Look at the size of that! the length of the dio is about 28 cm...

Anyways may you've noticed that i changed the dio base. Yeah i messed the initial one by soaking it in turpentine in an attempt to wash the ground to give it shadows. So happens that it vapourised the styrofoam to oblivion and knowing curious people, they're bound to poke the ground so i threw that one away. Plucked up all the grass on it, the ground came off too.. to reveal.. numerous wells in the styrofoam board.

Eng Guan, Bernard's helper, gave me a little lesson on how to contsruct a dio base. He told me to use COMPRESSED STYROFOAM and ONT AIRBRUSH LAQUER-BASED PAINT ON IT. AND REMEMEBR TO COAT IT WITH DILUTED WHITE GLUE FIRST.

Though i dont know how he managed to coat the thing with diluted white glue (the styrofoam is not absorbant at all) I did tweak a bit his next process.. which is to give shadows to the groundwork (which is basically wall putty mixed with a bit of water, fine sand and little stones, dabbed on). And his method is by using Artist's ink, diluted with water, spread all over the ground. Well i didnt wanan waste money so i found a bottle of Chinese Ink in my little drawer (dont ask me how it got there) and it worked perfectly too! But careful though... that thing... stinks. But the smell goes off your dio after a day or so.

Then i started to do some magic work with pastels... Andrea colours and stuff.. al mixed with water. I used some synthetic grass i bought from M Workshop and hay was used from bristles of a paintbrush. Painted the figures.. tried at painting faces (i made it look nice... till the wash spoiled it.). cleaned up a bit of the mud on the T34 and sprinkled some herbs i bought a few months ago. Remeber Dill Weed for grass and Marjoram Leaves for.... leaves?

The Dio didnt turn out too bad.. aside from the obvious pilings of styrofoam seen on the raised ground and the tank's tracks not fully on the ground.

I am currently in a financial difficulty here... so i cant just buy a bush from M Workshop. SO i Improvised.. i used roots from my neighbour's plant..... dipped with diluted white glue and then marjoram leaves and also on my way home from that idiotic frame shop.... i found some little moss or plant or whatever growing in the cracks of the carparks. They have small leaves.. and when they die.. i bet the leaves will shrink even more. So i plucked out a lot. Some old guy was looking at me... I looked at him... smiled... and he gave a reluctant smile... whatever to you, old man! So i fixed all these with white glue onto the base. sure it aint that nice... esp since Russia didnt have those kinda plants... but it'll do for a newbie eh?

I gotta finish this dio quickly. Still got a video to do. Don's bday is coming and the video's for him. good God i didnt know that of all 20 plus tapes i have here.. most of them have HIM in it!! been hanging around someone too long~~ lolz.

I think tml i'll bring the dio down to M Workshop for a few comments. Hell, they liked the tank. And that piece of tarp i put on the turret, made with tissue paper. Then maybe i'll go get a better suiting base for this baby. If only it didnt cost 13 dollars~~~

Oh yeah... im handing up my Sd.Kfz for sale too!! Need the money for pete's sake!
